Resources for Faculty, Administrators and Staff

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) assists faculty, administrators and staff with identifying and securing corporate and/or foundation funding for University-approved projects.

Please consult with the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations before you approach grantmakers. We can assist you with constructing a budget and writing a grant proposal, and will work with you to ensure that your applications comply with University policies, grant-maker reporting, and other stewardship requirements.

CFR complements the work of the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), which manages federal grants and external funding for sponsored research. Unlike OSP, which manages funding from governmental sources, CFR oversees philanthropic funding from corporations and foundations.

CFR Intent to Propose Form

If you have already identified a potential funder, please complete and submit the CFR Notice of Intent Form to farrelld@rowan.edu. The submission of the CFR Notice of Intent Form will allow the CFR team to ensure a funding organization’s limited submission and other application requirements are honored; protect Rowan applicants from being eliminated from competition because of internal miscommunication; enable the Rowan University Foundation to track proposal activity with potential funders; and provide current and future applicants with helpful information that may help secure an award.

Project Description Template

It is important to submit the Project Description Template to the office of Corporate and Foundation Relations early in the grant-seeking process. In order to identify the best possible funding match for a project, it is necessary for the CFR office to have sufficient information regarding the proposed project’s goals, methods, constituents, expected outcomes, budget, etc. This is also an excellent exercise if you are looking to initiate a new project; it ensures that all elements of the program have been considered.

Project Budget Template

The budget is one of the most important elements of a successful grant application. Staff and faculty should know that it can be time-consuming to design a budget, as it often requires significant research in determining reasonable cost estimates. Use the project budget template to determine what expenditures are necessary to successfully implement your project. The CFR staff will assist you in finalizing the budget and addressing any questions you may have regarding faculty course buy-outs, indirect costs, etc.

OSP Proposal Plan and Submission Form

Before CFR submits a grant application to a funder on behalf of staff/faculty, the Project Investigator (PI) must submit the Proposal Plan and Submission Form to the Office of Sponsored Programs for approval. The form, which outlines the major elements of a grant to a particular funder, requires the signatures of the Project Investigator, Department Chair, and Department Dean. Once the PI has secured the appropriate signatures, he or she must deliver the form to the Office of Sponsored Programs for final approval. This process is necessary to ensure that the project has been approved by the respective College and Department Chairs and that the grant application adheres to the University’s budget and submission policies.

Faculty Workshops
